"As is the case with many quaint Connecticut villages, they Cooked Marketplace caters to those who don't look at the cost of things when they buy. Its offerings, however, from premade sandwiches to ordered deli sandwiches and all kinds of interesting types of things to drink, it is a place where you can feed yourself, perhaps, buy nice foodie gifts for friends or to take to a host of a party. Great ambiance and very friendly folks working there. Of course, they have all kinds of delectable chocolates right near the cash register that you can't resist grabbing. All in all, a great spot to stop, even if a touch pricey."

"The turkey sandwich is simple but incredible. The combination of the tomato jam, homemade lemon aioli, crisp bacon, gooey cheddar and curry dusted turkey breast all held together by a fresh toasted ciabatta, is the perfect bite. At first glance I was disappointed at the lack of vegetables, but upon tasting it was pleasantly surprised as it is truly tastes like a Michelin star of a sandwich."

"Well, this is not a typical review but I still want to add it to show our appreciation. My son and I caught a huge eel when fishing nearby. We thought it might meet the trophy fish threshold by weight so we just searched for stores nearby with a certified scale. We went here and the staff were so nice and friendly. They provided us a plastic bag to put the eel in and weighed on their scale. Though the weight turned out to be a bit short of a trophy eel, but the whole experience there was so nice. They even gave us a bag of bread for free when we left there. Highly recommended!"

""Good things come to those who wait"! Cooked is a welcome addition to the bustling food community in Essex. It’s like an indoor farmer’s market with an upscale vibe. Lots of locally sourced goods delightfully displayed. Kudos for the salads and soups served in compostable paper containers. After several visits, we’ve enjoyed most of the baked goods, some chocolates, Granola Butter, and a delicious side of curried cauliflower to embellish a busy weeknight dinner. If you’re gifting a foodie, you’ll also find non-food items for the kitchen. Easy in and out parking is on the side, rather than in front. There is one handicapped parking space in front next to the ramp leading to the entrance. The aisles are wide enough for a wheelchair or walker. There’s usually someone available for assistance with items on higher shelves. If you’re on a budget, check out the “day-old” bread shelves starting on Thursdays for some great deals (they freeze well too!). Nice staff and friendly service. Looking forward to trying some of the frozen entrees and enjoying more items as the seasons change!"

"This is such a gem. They have a variety of foods and coffee for you to select and everything I have gotten here is delicious. The salads are unique. I added chicken to my salad and they offered to slice it. The roasted veggies are amazing. You'll definitely want to try their mac n cheese. It can be a little pricey but you're getting quality cooked food which is worth it for a weekday treat! Definitely recommend checking it out!"

"Happened upon this place by accident on a trip to Essex from Hartford area. So glad to find this gem because I'll definitely be going back! We just did a walk through, but already have in mind things I want to try the next time I get back there. So many unique items to see, fresh bread, fresh flowers, great refrigerated and frozen prepared food options. There were several different salads to choose from rotisserie chicken. There was a section where you could order food and sandwiches to go. The bakery items looked delicious! So much more as well! As I said so many great things! The staff was really friendly as well! Can't wait to get back there to try some things! Wish them all the best, they deserve it! Cool place!"

"This was the best sandwich I’ve had in, well, I’m not sure how long. The shoddy photo might not capture it, but the falafel sandwich was fresh, delicious, and flavorful. 5/5 They have a nice selection of snacks and drinks, and their baked items come from one of the best bakeries in the state, G Cafe."
